And that’s a wrap! COSMEDICON 2022 was a mighty accomplishment and we’d like to thank you for helping to make it an inspiring, memorable and educational conference. With so much grief and despair happening in the world, it was even more special to be face-to-face with our industry friends and colleagues again, sharing ideas, perspectives and experiences. Turn to page 70 for our photo collage, and for details on next year’s dates.

Collaboration is key to our industry’s continuing advancements in patient safety and results. In this issue of Aesthetic Medical Practitioner, we report on the latest headline-generating government inquiries into two of the most controversial topics surrounding cosmetic medicine: use of the title ‘surgeon’ and ‘patient safety risks’. Our feature on page 44 provides the key facts of the major reviews currently being conducted by the Health Council, AHPRA and MBA.

On page 36 we also report on important changes to the TGA’s Advertising Code and what this means for influencer endorsements and testimonials in the cosmetic and health industries. Plus, on page 164 we detail the recent NSW Professional Standards Committee decision in which a Sydney cosmetic doctor was found guilty of failing to provide sufficient time to properly assess his patients during Skype consultations and inappropriately delegating responsibility to nursing staff.

Advancing patient safety and results is at the core of the aesthetics industry. As such, we bring you the most comprehensive information on the products and services available, plus our Best Practice section (beginning on page 74) includes hands-on advice on how to better meet the needs and wants of your patients and how to protect your increasingly valuable intellectual property.

We hope you enjoy this issue, and don’t forget to sign up for our fortnightly AMP newsletter at aestheticmedicalpractitioner.com.au to stay in the know.
