Breast Augmentation

Procedure

Generally done as a day procedure under sedation or general anaesthetic. Several techniques are used with the incision being placed under the breast fold, around the nipple or in the armpit. The implant, either saline or silicone, round or teardrop in shape, is placed above or below the muscle. The procedure is individualized for each woman.

Larger, more shapely breasts.

Breast Reduction

Procedure

The two popular procedures for breast reduction are the peri-areola mastopexy with reduction and the Œinverted-T pattern©ˆ. The excess breast tissue is excised and the nipple is repositioned higher producing a lift/reduction.

Results

Smaller breasts with a more pleasing shape and position.

Breast Reconstruction

Procedure

There are two major types of breast reconstruction: using the patient©ˆs own tissues and breast implant reconstruction. Sometimes there can be a combination of both. It is important to realize that whichever method of reconstruction is chosen it may involve various stages before the end result is achieved.

Results

Breast reconstruction has been shown to have psychological benefits for women who've had a mastectomy.

Nipple Reconstruction

Procedure

Reconstructing the nipple can be done by using local "flaps" on the breast itself combined with pigmented grafts from elsewhere on the body. Alternately, medical tattooing to the nipple area can provide the appearance and natural colour of the nipple.

Results

A more natural looking nipple or replacement nipple.
